Drabble - Lay Low at Lupin's

His childish response at Remus backing away from a kiss right after Sirius had had his shower, however, had Sirius Black written all over it.
"You were gone for twelve years, Sirius..." Remus didn't know what else to say. Of course he couldn't just open the door to his long lost friend and start kissing. It would have been awkward even without their Hogwarts trunk load of baggage.
"I'm not angry," Sirius said, even though his voice was almost a growl. "It just needs to stop."
"Stop?"
"I'm back," Sirius responded simply. "So whoever it is can kindly bugger off." It hadn't even occurred to Sirius that Remus might have a different reason for not falling straight back into their old relationship. Maybe time really does feel frozen in Azkaban, Remus thought.
Remus chuckled, despite himself. He found that although he would have taken Sirius back at any time, it was all the easier when Sirius demanded it, the way he used to when they were younger. The shy, trying-to-be-polite Sirius that had shown up at his doorstep had been a little too alien to want to kiss. But this Sirius, the arrogant, demanding brat... Remus knew him. He was not a stranger. The werewolf leaned against the wall, ignoring the creak it gave out, and smiled at his old friend.
"You seem awful confident, Padfoot."
Sirius' grin almost dropped for a moment, but a quick search of Remus' face gave the Animagus the confidence to smile and carry on. "You love it."
"Maybe," Remus responded playfully, and crossed his arms.
Sirius took it as the odd invitation that it was, and moved closer to the werewolf until there was less than a foot between their feet. "Want me to kiss you right away, or are you going to do the noble Moony thing and break it off with the poor sod first?"
Remus chuckled again. "The only poor sods in this story are you and I, old friend." He uncrossed his arms.
Sirius' eyes widened, and shone with happiness. He nodded, pleased, then closed the distance between them. The kiss was short and tame, but neither man had kissed anyone in a long time, and it was what they needed. It wasn't that they were hesitant, it was that they weren't teenagers fumbling in the dark. They didn't need to be rubbing against each other within minutes of--
"Are you taking your trousers off?" Remus asked, eyebrow raised, as he looked down at Sirius fumbling with his fly.
"Reckon it's easier that way, yeah."
"You have quite a different definition of 'kissing' than I do."
